As part of the global expansion and growth of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) Women’s Network, we are excited to revive the SEG Women’s Network blog! This latest offering is specifically designed to keep the network informed on relevant information, achievements, events and initiatives.
The SEG Women’s Network and its steering committee, the SEG Women’s Network Committee (WNC), were created in 2011 to raise awareness of and find solutions for challenges women encounter in the field of applied geophysics. Our main goals are to:
- Encourage more participation and leadership by women in applied geophysics worldwide
- Create a community for mutual support among female SEG members
- Enhance recruiting and retention of women in the profession and mentoring of students and young professionals
- Elevate awareness of the value of a diverse workforce in the profession
The next post contains a recap of the events hosted by the Women’s Network Committee at the SEG Annual Meeting in Houston. In the next weeks, we will have a welcome letter fom the 2017-18 WNC Chair, Maria Angela Capello, which outlines our vision, strategy and goals. We look forward to your participation as we grow into a global future!
